Together We Serve

We are excited to announce that two local non-profits are coming together to serve the community better.  Grace Like Rain, founded in 2016, and Giving Hope, founded in 1986, have formed a formal partnership to build a stronger community among those individuals and families in Denton County affected by homelessness and economic instability. 

Grace Like Rain (GLR) seeks to see families’ lives transformed, breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness.  GLR has worked hard the last four years to build a strong community here in Denton County.  Both organizations believe physical needs and healthy relationships are necessary to transform people’s lives. GLR operates a case management program for families primarily addressing barriers with housing, transportation, and childcare, while also providing the case management at the Wheeler House, a transitional shelter for single moms and their children. GLR primarily receives financial support from individuals, businesses, and churches throughout Denton County.

Giving Hope, Inc. (GH) serves individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at-risk of being homeless.  They are considered a “Front Door” agency as part of the Texas Balance of State Continuum of Care.  Giving Hope’s mission includes street outreach, case management, and advocacy for support services. They provide rental and utility assistance for eligible participants, with specific programs for persons with disabilities and veterans. Government grants and local grant funding primarily fund GH.

Since GLR’s inception, these organizations have been working closely together to establish a stronger community.  They both believe that working together to serve individuals and families facing homelessness is fundamental in addressing their barriers to success. It was a natural fit for these organizations to join in a formal partnership, allowing them to continue to serve together and capitalize on each of their strengths.  Each organization will remain its own independent 501c3 but will combine their community fundraising efforts and operating expenses along with streamlining services.  This formal partnership will strengthen their ability to bring and keep government and private grant funding for housing and other needs within our community. 

Both Grace Like Rain and Giving Hope believe that when non-profits come together to serve we can give hope and opportunity to those around us.  Both organizations office at the Serve Denton Center, making both housing and case management services available for everyone facing homelessness within our community.
